I feel bad recently because after I did some extensive research on many low cost windows platform web hosting service providers, most of the results are disappointed. I am surprised to see some companies have so many complaints out there on the net, but if you just go to their home page, everything looks so promising. On the up side, I am glad I did those research because those really made me see the real winner. On the down side, those bad business practice just make me sick. What about those people who do not know much about hosting, those people did not do, or were not able to do such research as I did to find out which one is good or which one is bad. They will get ripped off easily by those bad companies. Well, anyhow, I hope my post could help some of you who is looking for a solid decent web hosting provider.

In summary, I do NOT recommend EasyCGI.com. I am not saying EasyCGI is bad, or doing bad stuff to their customers. I do not recommend EasyCGI simply because they are not good enough. We know web hosting industry is a very competitive market. If you are as good as other players, why people choose you? Plus, I see many people report 10% – 15% downtime from EasyCGI. Any downtime percentage over 10% is an immediately red flag when you are searching for a web hosting company. That is the main reason I can not recommend EasyCGI. Other than that, their other service is actually pretty decent. Their customer service is quite helpful too.

EasyCGI: good customer service

EasyCGI has a very good customer service. I asked questions by e-mail on the weekend and got several replies. They also have a toll free number 7 days a week (that is new). But only from 9 till 5. The help files on their web site are useless but if you know what you are doing this should not be a problem. As I wrote, their customer service is the best – once I had a problem with MS SQL Server database. But they worked it out very quickly.

The only downside to EasyCGI is their lack of unique features (e-commerce, promotional, etc.)

In conclusion, I should say that EasyCGI have good database support, excellent customer service and fair prices. Thats why we r planning to host our site with them in the future.

Very Satisfied Customer

EasyCGI has incredible connectivity and speed of data maintenance. It’s not so simple to get across such level of professional integrity as EasyCGI features.

Also EasyCGI support is extremely good. They help me figure out problems with my coding, and they know what they are talking about thus they have the most friendly customer support team I have ever dealt with. The prices seem very good considering all the programs they do offer. A nice thing is that EasyCGI supports lots of databases (MySQL, MsSQL, ODBC).

They had no noticeable downtime, or dips in speed. In my experience, this past 2 years the network has performed very well. I highly recommend them as a hosting company.

Too many outages.

I have a simple web page, basically for blog purpose. The site speed is usually ok, not very good. But recently, all of sudden I have many outage. I called their tech support and was told they just upgraded some software on their side which might cause outage, and they were working on it. But now it has been a week and the problem is still there. I am thinking about moving if they can not fix the problem.

EasyCGI is one of the best web hosting companies I have ever used.

Easy CGI has been one of the best web hosting companies I have ever used. Pricing is good for a budget host, and there doesn’t appear to be any hidden things they will make u to buy.

I have hardly experienced any problems with them at all – no crashes, no downtime, and they are always helpful if I ever have a question about any scripting issues, or any of the coding I have used on my site. Easy CGI customer support is awesome – whenever I call, someone always answers the phone almost immediately. The people are very friendly, and helpful, and will do whatever they can to help you with your problem.

There’re no separate billing systems – the billing functions are straight forward, easy-to-update, and simple enough. One can add/remove services, upgrade plans/features, view invoices, etc. all from the control panel. From what I observed, everything seems pretty conventional with the Easy CGI.

Use to be excellent, now terrible. Find a different company..

I have used EasyCGI for years. They use to be an excellent company with great customer service, a fast server (with fast upload), easy to use control panel until. Now they have horrible customer service (super long phone waits, and customer service doesn’t know what they are talking about and often refer you to other tech people), they push their online customer help where the service is even more confusing and lacks even the most basic knowledge. There server has become painful slow in teh last couple years and it often takes a minute to upload something as small as a JPEG, plus they no longer allow multiple uploads of files (now you have to do each file one-by-one), and their new control panel is difficult to use and poorly designed. This is what happens when a great company turns into a company that is only about the bottom line. It seems when they moved from California to Arizona is when everything changed for the worse.

In general, we do NOT recommend iPower.com. iPower was founded in 1998 and it is actually one of the pioneers in web hosting industry. It was probably the biggest web hosting company 5 years back. However, back in 2007, it was bought by Endurance International Group and a lot of problems happened during their transition process. We know, web hosting is a very completive industry. Not long after the bought out, iPower was kinda left behind by other companies such as BigDaddy andHostgator.

So, iPower was surpassed by other companies not really because of iPower itself, but purely because of their business acquisition incident. Now, it seems they have fixed all their issues and is still a strong player in Web Hosting industry. However, after comparing their service, plan price, features and support quality, we still feel there are enough better companies and better plan over iPower Web Hosting. Without enough reason, why should I choose iPower? That is our main reason we do NOT recommend iPower.com as a Web Hosting Service Provider. Cheap web hosting – at a price..

ipower is cheeeeep. But the average tech there doesn’t know diddley. You have to wait to get somebody who knows what they’re doing. And I mean wait. We’ve been with them for about 5 years. There were about 3 major outages that lasted a day or so. They give lots of space for the money. What the hell else do you want for 6.95 a month? It’s got php!!! And MySQL!!!

By Vinny at April 12nd 2011

Good Results.

We have used iPowerWeb for several years now for two businesses and have no no problems at all. We are small and do used the email services, but we have been pleased. The price is very reasonable.

By Joan Exner March 16th 2011

Too many mail outages.

I have a simple web page, hand-coded HTML to share some photos and a few other things. The site speed is usually acceptable, not good. The big problem I have with Ipower is email. Outages are too frequent and too long. Also, I’ve had outgoing email rejected because the IP address was reported as sending spam. I spent hours in chat with tech support to try to get them to resolve the problem, or even identify exactly where the problem was, and they never accomplished anything.

The service that I receive from iPower has been great. I have one site hosted by iPower and have set up a client’s site through iPower as well. I have never had a problem with the company and when I have contacted customer support my problems were solved in a very timely manner.

Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid..

I’ve been an iPower customer since 2001 and they have gone dramatically downhill over the last few years. The space and monthly bandwidth is excellent. Nowadays, though, the new servers are SSLLOOWW… it’s as though they’re channeling Twitter or something. Also, the tech support is nothing more than a crowd of retarded monkeys throwing poop at their keyboards. Seriously. It usually takes 3 hour-long phone calls and 20 emails to resolve an issue that they created (typically something wrong with their server).

In general, we do NOT recommend MyHosting.com except when you need a Canadian web hosting provider. If your web site visits mostly are Canadian, then MyHosting.com is a good choice, because MyHosting is a Canada based company. They have far better service in Canada. Otherwise,in US, MyHosting.com is not worth the price.

Be honest, MyHosting.com was a great web hosting company. But our study shows, in recent couple of years, their service has dropped and their price has hiked significantly, especially their windows platform web hosing plans, now is as high as $9.34 per month. With the service they provide, it is way over priced. You can check out the detail comparison from the following two links:

MyHosting.com clients’ reviews

myhosting.com delivered on its promise

"Very well priced and reliable host. I use the web site for my client as well as some of my other businesses. I have nothing but good thing to say about them."

by Nova Johanson on 16 Apr 2011

Really happy with the service

"Overall, I’m really happy with the service. Their website is laid out intuitively and has been very easy to use.

Myhosting has always been very responsive whenever I’ve had an issue. "

Derek Wuenschirs on 14 Apr 2011

Poor performance and poor support response

"For the first 2 days I had my account there were firewall issues which took my site down, and for the last 7-10 days i’ve had intermittent Io issues with their Vps.

Virtuozzo might not be the greatest choice for managing storage bandwidth or other shared resources, (because its a shared kernel environment) but what’s really bad about this was the radio silence from their support team. All I got back were canned responses and after 4 days finally someone called me and confirmed the issue was exactly what I reported to them 4 days prior. They claimed that they would be monitoring this to prevent it from happening again. To no avail, it is still an issue, my sites are still very slow or down, and I can barely log into the servers.

I switched to myhosting from a BabyCroc shared account from HostGator and things actually got significantly *worse* if you can believe it.That should tell you all you need to know about myhosting’s Vps offering. days of downtime? poor support response? its not a good value no matter how cheap it is.

Greg Notch on 21 Mar 2011

You get what you pay for!

"I wanted a cheap hosting site and that’s exactly what I got. The hosting seems to be reliable but the backend isn’t user friendly and the tech support is incompetent.
You definitely have to have some idea of what you’re doing to navigate the control panel. They do have webinars to learn how to navigate it better but I’m sure most people wouldn’t take the time to watch them.
If you have an issue and have to contact customer support then all I can say is good luck. The first time I contacted them I received excellent support and the problem was resolved very quickly. Apparently they fired that guy because every other response I’ve received from them has been a canned response which didn’t answer my question.
If you are looking to save money this may be a good option but just be warned that if you have an issue it won’t be resolved quickly. "

Lyndie House on 21 Jan 2011

So far So good

"So far so good. Switched to them from webhost4life.com. Customer service is good. No complaits so far. Hopefully will stay this way. Customer Service reps speak fluent English, no India or Affrica reps. Very happy now. "

by Daniel Lerman on 10 Dec 2010:

Technical Support Average

"Technical support is incompetent. A simple request to make a directory writeable seems to be beyong their level of competence. The Application Valut system creates more problems than it is worth. I think if you use them on the basis that you will do everything yourself then that is probably the best way. Do Not Rely On Their Technical Staff. "

by Slade Beard on 16 Dec 2010:

Used to be good, now the service is dropping

I’m a web developer and have used myhosting extensively over the past ten years. Not only for myself but for numerous clients as well. This used to be a good service, but has dropped considerably in the last couple years. It’s mediocre at best, but closer to poor. The price is way too high and you get nothing for the additional cost. And many features, such as editing name servers, transferring domains, getting authorization codes etc, can’t be done online, and there’s virtually no documentation (except for migrating to myhosting.com).

Lately, my clients and I have all experienced several problems with servers, website downtime, and email glitches. The customer support is extremely slow, and they keep having different people respond all asking the same questions over again.

GoDaddy Reviews, Complaints & Discount Code

I am an ASP.NET programmer and I have been using GoDaddy to host my ASP.NET website for almost 3 years. I saw many people were asking "Is GoDaddy hosting good?". Overall, my experience is so far so good. There have been several times I had to contact their tech support because my asp.net needs some special file access privilege. It did take a while, but they made the change for me. So according to my experience, if you need a windows platform hosting provider, especially if you need asp, or asp.net support, GoDaddy is definitely a decent choice. If you check our Windows Web Hosting Compare Table, you can see GoDaddy has the best price for windows hosting. However, if you need a Lunix/Unix platform hosting, then I would not recommend GoDaddy. Simply because their Linux hosting service is not as good as their windows hosting service. Check out Low Cost Linux Web Hosting Compare table, you can see several good ones, such as Hostgagor, FatCow, iPage.

GoDaddy Web Hosting Reviews:

Pros:

Very Good Domain Registration Service

GoDaddy.com is the largest domain registration service provider in US, actually in the world. Their domain registration service is very professional and reliable. From the review at the end of this post, you can see some people having over 200+ domains with them for years without any problem. Their domain normally cost around $8.99. But normally they have all types sales all year long. You could even get a domain for as littler as $0.99, unbeatable.

Affordable Price

GoDaddy’s economy plan cost as little as $4.99 per month. That is the cheapest windows hosting plan I’ve seen so far. It has all the basic features you need. It provides the latest .net framework and one SQL Server database. 10G MySQL and unlimited email address. That is enough for a small and mid-size website. If you need to host a high volume traffic site, then I would recommend you to get a more expensive plan.

Support Microsft ASP.NET

That is actually the main reason I use GoDaddy. I am a .net programmer so I have to have a hosting plan support ASP.NET. And most of my sites are small sites, not big sites. I found out GoDaddy works the best for me.

Well-known Company

Everyone knows GoDaddy as either a domain register or a hosting company. Or at least you know the famous NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. When you are looking for a web host provider, you want to get a well-known, well-established company such as GoDaddy. They have been in domain registration and web hosting business since 1997. In such a competitive web hosting industry, it is always a better idea to put your business in big guy’s hand instead of some small companies which might have better price but they could disappear any time.

Discount Codes

GoDaddy has all types of sales all year long. You can easily find a lot of discount code for both domain and web hosting plans. Here are several ones you can use:

GoDaddy Coupons For Domains

FAN3 – 35% off .COM $7.49 domain names
DOTCO1099 – $10.99 .CO domain which is usually $30, 65% Off
FAN749 – 50% off .ORG domain names ($7.49 each)
YES749 – $7.49 .NET domain names
GAM749 – $7.49 .BIZ domain names
SPN1 – 10% off any order
MIN1 – 10% off .CO domains
SPN2 – $5 off an order of $30 or more
HITCH2 – $5 off an order of $30 or more & .TV Domains

GoDaddy Coupons For Hosting:
RUSH20 – 20% off a 1yr or greater hosting plan
MIN1 – 10% off a month to month plan

Cons:

More restriction than others

Many people reported that GoDaddy has some restrictions on their hosting plans. For example, you can not connect to your database remotely. I think there are two sides for this restriction. The downside is, if you are a programmer like me, that is really inconvenient if I can not connect to the database. A lot of times, I need to debug into the code with real data in order to find out some problems. If I can not connect to the database remotely, it will make the debugging a lot harder. But on the other side, disabling remote connection will make your data more secure and avoid a lot of unnecessary traffic to those shared severs. Remember, they are shared servers which mean your site share the same server, fixed amount of bandwidth with others. If I open a lot of remote connection to that server, you will get less server resource and less bandwidth, apparently, you will not be happy. So if you do need some special feature, better to ask them first to make sure their plan does meet your requirements.

Control panel is not easy for beginners

I know exactly why GoDaddy have such complaints. I have been with them for over 3 years, but sometimes, I still get confused. Be honest, their control panel is pretty powerful. You can get everything you need there. But the problem is, they keep changing around, or should I say they keep "upgrading" their control panel? Normally it is going to take a while for me to get familiar again.

Conclusion:

So, as I said at the very beginning, if you want a windows web hosting, such as ASP.NET or ASP hosting, GoDaddy definitely is the company you should choose. If you want a Linux web hosting, then you should chooseHostGator,FatCow or iPage. For reviews aboutHostGator,FatCow or iPage, check out the following posts:

Glad to switch to GoDaddy.com

I’ve been hosting my sites with GoDaddy for a few years. I switched over from JustHost and I’m glad I did. I like their domain and hosting manager, it’s much better than JustHost. GoDaddy is relatively easy to use, at least if you know what you’re doing, but I would like a little more freedom with their shared hosting plans. Their prices are fair and affordable sure there are cheaper hosts out there but you get what you pay for. They’re servers are in the US and not overseas somewhere. Overall I’m very happy with GoDaddy.

GoDaddy, great web site hosting provider

GoDaddy is a great website host. They provide me with everything I need. The domains are affordable ranging from about $1.95 to $19.95 a year. Great Domain Registration Service, Customer Server Needs Improve

GoDaddy is a great hosting website although their customer support is a little bit laid back and not as positive as many other sites. Their domain registration is really great and reliable. The prices are extremely cheap and would go accordingly with anyone’s budget plan, I recommend GoDaddy to any novice new customer.
The control panel is a little hard to understand but with some tutorials that are posted can be taught pretty quick. In conclusion you should consider GoDaddy for fast and reliable highspeed hosting!

Good Service and Extremely Cheap Price

Godaddy has extremely cheap prices on basically all of their products. Domain names cost between $1 and $10 a year, depending on which one you buy. They have a lot of confusing offers and promotions as you try to check out, but I just skipped through them. I could not find a cheaper offer anywhere else. In fact, most previous hosts I’ve used have charged my $20-$40 per year for one domain name! On another note, I have never had any downtime or issues with Godaddy, and my support requests were answered within a few days. The hosting is also quite cheap and has a fair amount of features, space, and bandwidth. The domain names also come with free email accounts, which I found quite useful to set up a professional support system for my site. As a website newbie, I found the control panel very easy to navigate through. Everything is explained in plain English and there is a great FAQ section for help. I mainly use Godaddy for domain names, which I sometimes host with them and sometimes use another host, like a free host if I;m just experimenting. After purchasing my domain it was up and running within 10 minutes, and one hour after setting up the nameservers on my other host I was done. I went into it not knowing what a nameserver even was but within five minutes I figured out how to set it all up. Overall, Godaddy has a slightly confusing site with a lot of distracting offers or promotions on it, but they are my favorite for hosting and buying domains. It is best suited for people new to creating a website or someone who is on a budget. You really can not get a cheaper host then them, unless you go free. Plus, you have to love their commercials.

Recommend for small to mid size websites, not recommend for big websties

I use GoDaddy to host some smaller websites I run and overall the hosting is average. If you have a big website that gets a lot of traffic, I would probably look somewhere else for hosting as there has been some downtime with GoDaddy as well as website lags. The interface to control your domains, hosting, and email is kinda annoying at first and it might take you a while to get used to it if you’ve never had website hosting before, but it’s a pretty standard run of the mill hosting interface. GoDaddy’s customer support is great and they will usually get back to you pretty quickly if you are having trouble with something, so that is a plus for hosting at GoDaddy and you will speak to someone who speaks English. The prices at GoDaddy can’t be beat as far as hosting goes and a lot of times they will offer a coupon that will give you a pretty big discount so be on the look out for one. Overall, if you’re looking for a cheap host for a smaller website, I would say that GoDaddy would be a good choice for your hosting needs. If you want to host a large website with a ton of traffic, you might want to look elsewhere. For my needs though, GoDaddy is fine.

Work Great, Highly Recommend

I’ve been using godaddy for my website for quite some time now. Their services are really great. They have reliable hosting at one of the cheapest prices you’ll be able to find on the web. If you look around, you’ll be able to find some coupons online to lower the price even further. Over the last few years, I’ve only had to contact their customer support once, and they responded quickly and very professionally. GoDaddy is highly recommended!

GoDaddy has been excellent over the years of serving people. As a rookie in this website thing, I can’t avoid to have technical problems and GoDaddy’s support were acting quick! They have a variety of customer service contact methods; including on-line issue reports that are acted on relatively immediately. GoDaddy’s online host interface is a breeze to opperate and offers decent web stat detail for those who whish to analyze traffic to their website. I am pleased with they’re service to date and would recommend them if asked.

Control Panel is not easy for beginners

GoDaddy.Com, name the first time I heard the best hosting providers today, both in terms of good quality servers, access speeds are pretty good for asia region and a friendly customer support and responsiveness.

until today when someone called GoDaddy, will all be beroikir that it is the best provider.

but there is one thing that makes me hard to hosting here. because the price they offer hosting for a small class is very expensive (I think). maybe it was because the service they gave me is not cheap so they offer a fairly high price.

and also those rules should apply hosting for 1 year full contract, I thought it was a burden to me. should be if they require to contract for 1 full year, they provide a trial period for their potential clients to try before hosting them.

after all, in terms of useability GoDaddy.Com panel, for a beginner like me, it was very confusing.

The first time I use my GoDaddy really bother about the use of each button on their panel, until I finally understood by itself over time.

my advice, they should reduce rates now hosting them separately, because it has many emerging provider that offers quality is also good servers and the best service and prices more affordable for blogger or webmaster like me.

GoDaddy: Reliable Service and Recommended

I have over 200 domains registered with GoDaddy and I find them to be a very reliable domain registrar. Pretty satisfied in my 2 years with GoDaddy

I’m not a veteran like most here, however I have been with GoDaddy for 2 years and I’m satisfied with it. I guess once the setup is done, I’ve never been bothered with them. Maybe if you are looking for a bit more control (like others suggested) they ‘probably’ aren’t worth it as others suggested, however I am satisfied with them (then again, I haven’t used any others either.)
As for stats program, I was using godaddy. They do charge money and then I started using Google’s free web statistics, pretty good I might add (no pun intended) .
Best of luck.

First of all, if you are planning to host with IXWebHosting or do research on IXWebHosting, I want to let you know, as a web hosting company, IXWebHosting is NOT recommended. You should consider our all time best recommendation HostGator as your first choice.

Several months ago, I almost sign up with IXWebHosting because I got an very sweet special deal: $2.95 per month with a free domain. That is the cheapest price I’ve never seen in web hosting. However, after I did my research, I decided Not to take that deal. Like many people say: there is a reason for cheap. Here I want to share my research with you.

Pros

  • Price: cheapest, 3.95/month with free domain. That is $47.4 per year. IXWebHosting is the cheapest in our list.
  • Money Back Guarantee: Anytime. If you are not satisfied, get your refund anytime.
  • Support Windows: Most blog hosting company only support Linux. However, IX Web Hosting provides windows plans.

Cons

  • Down Time: IX Web Host severs crash more often than other web hosting providers.
  • Slow: IX WebHosting web speed is slow. If your page is fairly big, you will get time out error.
  • Customer Service: Good but often won’t be able to resolve the real problem. They often state the problem is because your plan is on a shared server, not much they can do. I heard people saying they out sourced their support to Ukraine at one point which make the service even worse.
  • Files Hacked: many customers have reported their websites were hacked many times. Their page were replaced. Their files were injected different spam scripts. Or web sites simply became unavailable. Some people even claim: “if your website has decent traffic, then your site will be hacked, guaranteed with Ix web hosting!”. That is quite scary. That is the main reason I DO NOT recommend IXWebHosting.

I strongly recommend HostGator. This web site is hosted with Hostgator. I’ve been with Hostgator for several years and never, I mean NEVER have one single issue. If you want to check out more detail about Hostgator, see Hostgator Review.

The following are IXWebHosting Customer Complaints:

Servers go down daily…

For the past month I’ve noticed that my site(s) hosted on IX Web Host crashes daily. It may be only a few minutes but typically it lasts for a few hours. I’ll never renew a hosting package with this site. Here is the very typical response from their technician that I just received back this morning:

"We are very sorry for this recent inconvenience, please accept our sincere apologies. Our administrators have been notified and they are doing their best to fix the problem as soon as possible. It may take some more additional time to get it fixed. Thank you for bearing with us. We hope for your understanding and cooperation."

Do not pick IX for hosting…

IX was an ok hosting provider when I started with them years ago, I didn’t have many complaints, until I started noticing a pattern. Starting in about October, servers would crash, I would have huge outages every year. I would lose sales because the server would timeout in the middle of the transactions. I watched it happen on numerous occasions. Finally, this year, they had a scheduled maintenance that went wrong, and my service was again down for over a full day. Unacceptable in this day and age not to have a backout plan in a scheduled maintenance period. But I said…OK, we will see how this holiday season goes and give them a one last chance to change my mind that I should continue hosting with them. They assigned support heroes to each account, and this was a great change in support and working with my hero has been awesome. However it is not nearly enough to keep my business. I am moving as soon as possible and requesting a full refund. My recommendation: Please do not give your business to IX WebHosting. They need to just refund their current customer’s money and help them move to some place that can provide service and shut down. They are DONE.

Biggest Pro: Support hero
Biggest Con: Uptime…down at least part of every day where I can’t get to it.

I HAVE BEEN HOSTING FOR LESS THAN A MONTH WITH THESE GUYS AND THE WEBSITES ARE EXTREMELY SLOW, CUSTOMER SERVICE / TECH SUPPORT BLAMES IT ON SHARED ENVIRONMENT AND WILL DO NOTHING TO RESOLVE ISSUES. EVERY ERROR, EVERY DOWN TIME IS NOT THEIR FAULT.

THEY CLEARLY LET YOU KNOW THAT DOWN TIME AND SLOW TIMES ARE A RESULT OF SHARED HOSTING AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. CLEARLY THEY DO NOT CARE WHO LOSES BUSINESS AS A RESULT OF THEIR POOR NETWORK AND WAY OVERLOADED SERVERS!!!

"I would not say NO to ix webhosting, its HELL NO" is right…

I’ve been a long time customer of IX and as of late, since they have outsourced support to Ukraine, this company is going down fast. If your site is getting decent traffic, it’s guaranteed that the site will be hacked. It’s not what you do, it’s what the support will do to your site; keep in mind that the tech support has full access to your folders, files, and code. They even hide sub-folders in your site directory that you cannot see with the web based or FTP connection to your site. You’ll notice the hidden folder when Google blocks your site and it shows up at stopbadware.org site as such:

URL: http://www.yourdomain.com/3wjc9dm/

You check your site directory and there’s no "3wjc9dm" folder visible. You go ahead and chat with the support online and asked them, can you see this directory? You guest it, the answer is no.

Then out of the blue, you get an email from tech support that they have opened a support ticket for you. And of course, they do blame you for all of the issues. Quote from their standard answer:

"We regret to inform you that we have found that your FTP password has been compromised. It is likely that it was stolen by a "hacker" (or someone with malicious intent against your account) or a Trojan. This means that your account is now vulnerable to malicious scripts. Your account will be completely cleaned from all known malicious code in the nearest time.

The root of the problem is that your FTP password appears to be stolen by hackers. It means there is a trojan running at your local machine that reads the password when you connect your FTP account and then sends it to hacker. Thus, it is recommended that you scan your local machine and remove viruses and trojans if any found. And please, do not reset your FTP password until you sure your machine is clean. We prefer not to tell you your new password, in order to keep it secure. "

Really???

a. how come tech support noticed the hacked FTP account password, after complaining about the invisible folder?
b. how does tech support know where the hack has taken place?
c. even if the FTP account gets hacked on the "local machine", there’s no way to make a folder "invisible" by that FTP account
d. after five years being an IX customer, running WordPress, PHPBB, and PHP websites, all the sudden during the last couple of month, I forgot how to protect my sites?

I did not forget how to run my site; I am moving them as far away from IX as possible.

SERVICE GOING DOWNHILL

Do NOT get IX. Note the following email sent to users of their service sent by their CEO on October 19, 2010. Judge for yourself. They have "upgraded" their systems 4 times within a year.

I am writing to you to apologize. Last Thursday, October 14th through Saturday, October 16th, our CP9 & CP10 customers were put through frustrating and severe service issues, which should not have happened.

We had become arrogant with our level of confidence in making changes to our new infrastructure, and wrongfully assumed that there would be no problems in the change we had decided to make. In doing so, we put all of you through a lengthy and horrible period of multiple outages. Clearly this is terrible service, and not the kind of provider we want to be.

For those of you that are interested in understanding the full technical explanation of the issues that caused the service problems, please read the "post-mortem" that is posted on our blog. There is one bit of bad news, all customers on CP10 will have to undergo a 5 minute restart on Wednesday, October 20th in order to prevent a possible repeat of Saturday afternoon’s outage. Please read the blog post for details.

We have definitely learned some valuable lessons from this outage and we want to commit to all of you that we will not repeat the same mistake again. So we are making some changes. First, we have instituted a maintenance freeze for the time being, so that only emergency maintenances will be allowed to happen for now. Emergency is defined as a maintenance that has to happen to correct or prevent a problem that is customer affecting. Second, we are hardening and cleaning up our testing procedures and back-out plan policies for all production environment changes. Third, a new Change Management Advisory Board made up of our senior leadership team will review and approve all changes to our systems, software, or interfaces from now on.

I sincerely hope that you will forgive us, and give us the opportunity to prove that we are taking this very, very seriously.

I would not suggest this company

They have terrible customer service and support. They deleted our db’s which caused major problems. After a few weeks when they hadn’t recovered our data we decided to start from scratch and asked them to not overwrite this data….the did it anyway and screwed us for a second time.

It also seems that there sever is infected with a virus, after check with several sources and reading thousands of customer reviews I confirmed this. It seems thousands of their customers are all experiencing the same probelms.

The only reason I did switch early is because they gave me a year free for all their screw ups, given the latest issues I am not waiting for the free year to expire….I am switching now.

I truly love IXWebhosting. I have been a customer for a long time and I have never had any issues out of them. My site is always up and I have always gotten fantastic service. Not worthy if you hosing site with database

This hosing site is not good for database related application such as Joomla, drupal, CMS and others.

So many database issue. Html traffic is good. Currently they moved to Ohio data center. Speed is actually improved but not good hosting service.

Not sure why other hosting review sites ranks top 10 hosting companies out there…. no way!

I am moving to other hosting in next month.

By the way, i am hosting about 20 domains with ixwebhoting. I am serious user.

This is a GREAT hosting company.

I have used at least a half dozen hosting companies since the mid 90’s. IX Web Hosting is totally reliable, totally responsive, never down and has the easiest to use web site I have found. The only company I have found that is as good as IX is Verio and they are much more expensive.

I have been with FatCow for quite a while, close to 2 years. Originally, I was with HostMoster. But because not able to get much help from HostMonster after having some website outage issue, I moved to FatCow which is another better web hosting company. I think probably the reason is I reached their some type of resource limitation even though I had unlimited plan. After I switched to FatCow, everything works great since then, especially with their low cost. But about one month ago, I found out web hosting company iPage actually is the same as FatCow and most of the time, iPage actually offers even cheaper plan. So, I started to search whether iPage is as good as FatCow and if there are any complains about iPage web hosting.

iPage has nothing to do with Apple

One funny complain I saw online is, some people signed up with iPage because they had thought iPage is an Apple’s product, like their other products many people have: iPod, iPhone, or iPad. No, big no. iPage as a web hosting company has been in web hosting business since 1998. They just happen to have an “i” in their name. They really have nothing to do with Apple.

iPage is FatCow

I don’t know why they have two brands, but basically, they are the same company. FatCow provides a very decent web hosting company based on my own two years experience. And during my search, it seems iPage provides pretty much identical service as FatCow. Most of iPage web hosting service reviews are positive. But, there are several types of complains I found.

Check out more detail about FatCow WebHosting

iPage sometimes experiences down time

Some people experienced downtime from iPage web hosting, especially for those website having heavy traffic. But most of the time, the downtime is very short. Or people can get in touch with their customer support and get the problem fixed fairly fast. It is said the problem is normally caused by their bandwidth balance program or backup program.

iPage customer service sometimes not professional enough

iPage, same as FatCow provides 24/7/365 tech support via toll free phone, email and online chat. Some users complained their tech support people sometimes are not professional enough. Your call might be transferred to different levels to handle. But overall, their customer service is very polite and normally your problem can be handled pretty fast even transferred to different levels.

So far, those two are two major complains for iPage. While I did research for complains, I also see some good things people are saying about iPage and FatCow. Let’s take a look as well.

Fast Setup and Solid Service

Like FatCow, iPage provides a very solid web hosting service. Not only they have all popular Linux web hosting features such as WordPress blog, ImageGallery, php Forum, but also they have osCommerce, AgoraCart and ZenCart for your eCommerce need. Their Fast Script Installer can help you to install these features in just several simple clicks.

Free domain

As I keep reminding people, when you host your website, there are two fees: monthly hosting fee you paid to your host provider and domain registration fee. Domain registration fee normally costs about $10 per year. Here if you host your website with iPage, you will get a free domain. Not much, but $10 is a saving. If you want to get more domains for your unlimited hosting account, I would suggest the biggest domain registration company GoDaddy.

Check out more detail about GoDaddy Domain Registration

vDeck Vs. c-Panel

Most of people know c-Panel which is a software used to manage your hosting account. You can use it to manage your domain, create email account, and manage ftp accounts, data base, and your plug-in applications, pretty much everything you need. It is a very mature and popular software in hosting industry. However, there is a weakness about c-Panel. It always uses the first domain name you have as root folder for your hosting account. If you have another domain, the second domain physical folder will be under root folder which also means under your first domain folder. That sometimes may mess up your stuff if you are not careful. However, vDeck has a virtual root folder and make a sub folder for each domain. That way your files never overlap between domains. Other than that, vDeck is a pretty much a clone of c-Panel, and looks prettier. That is it.

Support Paypal

This is important for eCommerce website. With Paypal support, you can easily support not only papal, but also all other major debit card, credit card payment right away on your website.

No up-selling

This is another thing I like about iPage and FatCow. They don’t up-sell anything to you once you sign up. Nowadays, I think everyone has the experience about their email inbox full of all types of garbage emails, spasm. I really really hate that. Glad those guys from iPage and FatCow have their focus on providing a decent and solid web hosting service.

Conclusion

Overall, I would say iPage is a pretty decent web hosting company. With $4.50 pre month and free domain, I really don’t have much to complain about it. Plus the most important fact is that their service is professional and solid. I would strongly recommend them.

Check out more detail about for iPage Web Hosting

In short, I have had been with HostMonster for about a year and then later I switched to another web hosting company FatCow.com.

Two reasons for my switch:

Reason #1: when I start with HostMonster, everything worked great. I did not have any problem with them. However, when my site got bigger and more traffic, I started to have some issues. Some of my customers told me they couldn’t access my site occasionally. I did not see it myself though. I called HostMonster support and was told it might because my site used up too much resource or something. They did not really figure out the cause though.
Reason #2: back then HostMonster’s price was $7.95 per month. I switched to fatcow.com which only charged me $4.67. They have pretty much the same features, but fatcow is cheaper and more stable. I haven’t had any problem with fatcow since the switch.

So, I guess if you are running a simple blog or a small site, HostMoster probably is fine. Plus their price is coming down now, $5.95 per month with a free domain. That is a pretty good price.

Another thing about HostMonter is, their founder actually is the same as BlueHost. So, technically, they are the same company, but they run somehow differently. BlueHost is more expensive than HostMonter. So I guess probably their original intention is to have HostMoster for lower end users and BlueHost is for higher end users. Also it seems there are many complains about BlueHost because their downtime and file, CPU restriction. So I think HostMonster very likely having the same issues.

Conclusion for HostMonster Web Hosting

So, my simple conclusion about HostMonster Web Hosting is: if you already have a small site or blog with them, you are fine. Overall, they are a decent company, not a scam or something, However, if your site is growing fast or you plan to get start a new site, I would use FatCow.com instead of HostMoster.
FatCow.com Web Hosting

In general, I do NOT recommend BlueHost. Be honest, BlueHost is a decent web hosting company. They have been in business since 2003. They experienced a very fast growth from 2003 to 2008. They have been a great web hosting provider in web hosting industry. But in the last couple of years, we have seen some complaints about BlueHost when the web hosting industry is getting more and more competitive.

Let’s take a deeper look at BlueHost:

BlueHost Web Hosting Service

Overall, they provide a pretty decent web hosting service. Their c-panel provides a very good quality control on pretty much everything you ever need for your account. Also, they provide a very decent Google search engine optimize tool which a lot of web hosting companies do not have. However, in recent years, sometimes BlueHost customers experienced some downtime, data file was unexpected changed, also their famous CPU restriction which means if your website uses too much CPU, you could get error page saying your side is down instead of showing your site. This problem should be fixed by now though.

BlueHost Customer Service

Overall BlueHost is very good at customer service. Their staff is very polite and they are really 24/7/365. You can reach them anytime. But we also see many complaints saying some of their technicians are not well trained. If there is a problem, it could take a while before they can get back to you to fix it.

Another type of complaint about BlueHost is their overselling. They tell you all types of good stuff such as unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited CPU, but when they see your website used up a lot of resource; they will put some restriction on your site. Their CPU restriction is one of these examples.

BlueHost Hosting Price

I have a complete feature and price comparison for all major web hosting companies:
Low Cost Unix/Linux Web Hosting Compare Table

As you can see, BlueHost’s plan cost $6.96 per month, $83.4 per year. I can get the same service from Hostgator for $57.38 per year, or even cheaper from IXWebHosting for only $47.4 per year. As a matter of fact, Hostgator ranked No.1 in our comparisons list because of their excellent web hosting service and superb customer service. IXWebHosting ranked No 2 because of their great service and unbeatable price.

Conclusion For BlueHost Web Hosting

Anyhow, I am not saying BlueHost is bad. BlueHost is a very decent web hosting company. But if I choose, I would choose Hostagor or IXWebHosting over BlueHost.
IXWebHosting Plan

As we all know, both Hostgator and BigDaddy are two giants in Web hosting industry. When comes to the question of which one is better, it really depends on what you want to achieve.

For simple blog, photo sharing or forum: Hostgator

If you just want to do some simple blog, share some photos with your family and friends, or create an online forum, then Hostagor is the one you should choose. You just need their Hatchling Plan which only cost $3.96 per month. For the same feature you get from GoDaddy, it will cost about $4.99 per month.

For windows platform, ASP/ASP.NET hosting: GoDaddy

GoDaddy has the best window platform web hosting. Again, their price is $4.99 per month. It is cheap enough for ASP.NET hosting. Hostgator simply does not have windows web hosting platform or ASP/ASP.NET hosting.

For CPA, Affiliate marketing web hosting: Hostgator

If you want to build blog or your own site for CPA, Affiliate marketing, you should choose Hostgator. Not only they provide you the cheap solid hosting service, but also their second to none customer service. They will work for you 24X7 to get your website up and running. You will need their Baby Plan which cost $6.36 per month.

For others, you really need dig a little deeper to do you homework. For example, if you want to build an online store, you need find out what type of payment you need to use, what type of shopping cart you want to have, how do you want to process refund, do you want a support phone number so on and so forth. I have a complete comparison table that could help you on this situation.
